I went out to the garden yesterday with the intention of picking some purple thai basil to make pesto, and while I was out there I noticed that there was some mint dying to be harvested as well, so I threw that in my basket too. When I started to separate them during the washing process, though, I realized that basil and mint smell really good together, or maybe it’s just me. Anyhow, I threw the mint in the my food processor along with the basil, olive oil, and lots of pine nuts, and gloriousness came out.

Not a ton of pesto, but enough to make my pre-work lunch/dinner zucchini and spinach wrap taste really good. The mint made it refreshing versus heavy. Happy accident.

Seeing as I had already dirtied the kitchen making pesto, I decided to go a little further and make some pudding cups. Chocolate pudding made with soymilk (in these cute little silicone cupcake cups I just received as a gift!) topped with caramelized banana slices and chilled all day. I had one before work yesterday and it was pretty heavenly, if I do say so myself. The gooey caramelization stuff seeped into the whole pudding cup. Yum

I also just have to mention two more adorable gifts I’ve received recently –

a set of five *quaint* blue apple plates

and a set of hand-painted syrup dispensers.

Waffles anyone?
